ABOUT DAP: Do you want to work more effectively with your clients with less
stress on your own body? Do you want to learn how to work with a greater
variety of your clients’ health complications? If so, Paul Lewis’ Dynamic
Angular Petrissage (DAP) course may be perfect for you.
DAP is not a deep pressure treatment but can be very specific in its application.
It is comprised of combinations of established techniques which, if administered skillfully, can result in a powerful method of treatment that is gentle on the therapist and can
produce positive results for the client.
The fundamental idea behind this form of treatment is using light petrissage
techniques, muscle stripping, segmental stretching or myofascial release
techniques in combination with the use of levers to change angles for
lengthening and shortening the muscles. It can be extremely gentle and
helpful for clients with varying levels of health complications, including
Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), frozen shoulder, mastectomy, breast
augmentation and reduction, whiplash, thoracic outlet syndrome, carpal
tunnel syndrome, and more.
ABOUT THE COURSE:
This course will be taught primarily through demonstrations, hands-on participation, and group discussion.
Focus will be on treating the NECK, ARMS and SHOULDER GIRDLE. It will begin with a client case presentation as a way to examine symptoms and encourage clinical reasoning.
The rationale for techniques, modalities and treatment positions will be covered.
Paul will teach the use of Dynamic Angular Petrissage to augment treatment techniques and reduce treatment stresses on the therapist.
Therapists will be introduced to and practice various hand saving techniques, body mechanics for safe application of techniques and self care exercises.
Segmental stretching and triple knuckle stripping will also be demonstrated and practiced.
WHY PRACTICE DYNAMIC ANGULAR PETRISSAGE (DAP)?
• To be more efficient and effective in accessing and treating functionally problematic issues in selected upper body regions
• To aid the client in their rehabilitation process
• To integrate already learned massage techniques and methods into powerful techniques for addressing client issues
• To practice ways to extend your career through safe and effortless delivery of techniques designed to minimize joint pain and stiffness suffered by so many in the health care industry.
Classes will be held on Oct 17, 2015 (9-5:30) at Quality Inn 980 Parkland Drive, Halifax, NS. B3M 4Y7
